Believe

By Martina Ver Pault
I love to watch God work...

When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they said to him.

Matthew 9:28

I love to watch God work!  Sometimes I think my friends get tired of hearing me say that statement.  I honestly can say, I do believe wholeheartedly that the Lord can do any kind of miracle, least of all curing the blind like in our Gospel today.   I have been so blessed to be able to watch miracle after miracle throughout my life.  Some of the greatest ones to me are the ones that involve conversion.  Seeing someone who has little or no faith come to believe in Jesus… that is awe-inspiring. Regardless of anyone else’s involvement, that is a miracle performed by Jesus opening the eyes of the heart of the blind. I wonder if St. Francis Xavier felt that way as he made his way around the world; Italy, Portugal, Japan, and especially India, seeing the converts the Lord used him to make.  Some converts would have a strong enough faith to become martyrs.  I’m sure spending time with St. Ignatius of Loyola helped.  But, I have my suspicions that the Lord said to St. Francis Xavier as he made his way to hostile areas, “Do you believe that I can do this?”

What miracle does the Lord want to work in your life?  Do you believe He can do it?

Dear Lord, help us to believe that You alone can heal us; help us to Courageously Live the Gospel.

The staff has today off as we prepare to celebrate our independance tomorrow...

John 20:29

Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.

The staff has today off as we prepare to celebrate our independance tomorrow. Instead of writing a reflection on our thought for the day I encourage you to pray for our country. Have a safe holiday with your family.
