As a young man, I always thought it would be awesome if I were a prince. Not like in a fairy tale, but an actual son of a king. But not the son who was in line for the throne because that would be too much pressure. I wanted the life of a prince, the respect I would receive because of who my father was, and unlimited dessert. Because no one denies a prince dessert! At first glance, our very short and concise Gospel seems to be diminishing Mary, who this stranger is blessing. But Jesus is not diminishing his mother, He is lifting us up. He reminds us that following God's word is more important than having a biological relationship with Jesus. If we had to be biologically related to Jesus to be saved by him we would be in deep trouble. Today revel in the fact that you are indeed a prince or princess because you have been adopted by The King! (But unlimited dessert is probably not gonna happen)
How can I hear and follow God's word better today?
Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice to allow me to become a child of God.
