Luke 10:23-24
Turning to the disciples in private he said, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I say to you, many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear it."
It feels good to be on the inside - to know a secret or to know the answer to a question that other people want to know. Did you know that you are an insider? Yep! You have the answers that so many other people are looking for. And I'm not talking just any answer - you have THE answer.
During the season of Advent, we recall a time when people were looking, searching and waiting for THE answer - the Messiah. Now we know who the Messiah is and we have added a layer of looking, searching and waiting for His second coming. But there are people who don't know. People who are searching in the wrong place. This is especially evident during the holidays. We have this special feeling inside of us - excitement, joy, generosity - and so many people try to manufacture it by buying, decorating, or party planning. None of those things are bad, but as Christians, we have to recognize that we have been blessed to know what really does fill our hearts - the love and promise found in Christ.
