Working to Give God Glory

By Elle
I just read a Jesuit Post article about a politician in the UK who resigned from his political party after an abysmal election, but he did not resign for that reason.

Do not swear by your head,
for you cannot make a single hair white or black.
Let your 'Yes' mean 'Yes,' and your 'No' mean 'No.'

Matthew 5:36-37

I just read a Jesuit Post article about a politician in the UK who resigned from his political party after an abysmal election, but he did not resign for that reason.  He resigned because he could not live out his Christian faith and reconcile it with his political aspirations within that party.  He was asked and criticized about his Christian faith so often, that he thought it got in the way of his ability to lead in government.

I often have given thanks to God that in my line of work, I can be reconciled with my faith life, and I am impressed by those who are not within familiar Christian work environments, who are not afraid to speak up about their faith, or answer questions, or direct people with questions to a resource that will help them.  Let us pray today for the courage of conviction and for God to give us the grace to be reconciled with both faith and our work.  By giving God the glory of our work, what we produce and how we work, in whatever we do, we are offering a very powerful form of prayer indeed.
