In the first reading from Joel: The heavens and the earth quake,but the LORD is a refuge to his people, a stronghold to the children of Israel. Joel 4:16 Through our baptism, we are adopted sons and daughters of God and we then are "His people". When the "heavens quake", God will be our refuge.
I hope this inspires us to take courage in these times of civil discord, sown by who knows who, and that we will proceed as people of peace to engage in civil dialogue and have conversations that will promote Christian values of kindess, respect and Christian love.
Lord, we pray for peace and unity for our communities and our country.
