"In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary." - Luke 1:26-27
Why did God send the angel Gabriel? Isn't this news big enough to warrant God Himself speaking to Mary? He spoke to Moses in the burning bush after all. Well, one answer could be that Gabriel's visit calls back to another angelic encounter that had some epic repercussions: Satan's conversation with Eve.
In the garden, Satan placed doubt in Eve's mind that God is good and can be trusted to provide all that she and Adam needed. Of her own free will, she reached up and grabbed the fruit and ate it. In the house of David, Gabriel expelled any doubt of God's goodness and His plan for Mary. Of her own free will, she opened her arms and said "Yes!"
What are some things that remind you of God's goodness and trustworthiness?
Father, thank You for Your perfect will. Help us to trust and accept it for our own lives.
