Again, amen I say to you if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my Heavenly Father. For where two ot three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:19-20
First of all, let's just say right about the time you are first reading this, there are all whole lot of people praying about Hurricane Irma. We all want to pray the storm will miss us, but I am sure most of us agree we do not want to "send the storm to our neighbor", not that we can control that, because you see, God is bigger than this storm. God our Heavenly Father deos not need us to remind Him that there is a huge and threatening hurricane looming over Florida right now, as I write this, impacting the Florida Keys.
It reminds me of the "sleeping Jesus". The winds and waves rocked and rocked the boat and the apostles were terrified, and Jesus was sleeping. (Matthew 8:23-27) In fear for their lives, the disciples probably wondered how Jesus could possibly not "be there" with them in their fear. But He was. He was right next to them, in the boat with them. And His answer to the disciples: " Oh you of little faith". These natural events will occur and it is my prayer and hope that we can rebuild afterwards, and be made all the more wise and stronger after thsi is over and all is once again calm. When you need fortitude and hope, just remember that you are not here by some random act, andyou are not accidentally made. You are the product of all of your ancestors, your parents' parents' parents' and so on. It is nothing short of miraculous that we are all here now, and that one of your forebears did not decease prematurely, and they at least lived long enough, because you would not be here. You are sufficiently blessed and here at the right time and the right place.
Let us continue to pray for peace and calm through this storm, and especially in the aftermath, as we remember Jesus is with us.
