Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord
"Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus." Luke 1:31
The name of Jesus is kind of a big deal. For centuries it has been announced and carried for the whole world to hear. First when the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would bring Jesus into the world. Then John the Baptist announcing the coming of his ministry. After his death and resurrection it was up to the Apostles to carry the name of Jesus to the whole world.
Now the torch has been passed along to us. When we identify as Christian, just like the apostles, we carry the name of Jesus to those who have not heard or do not believe. There is power in that name. We do not simply preach about a God who looks down on humanity from a far away. We carry the name of God who made himself human so that we could be with Him in eternity.
Question for Reflection
Do my actions speak the love, kindness, humility and grace of Jesus?
Dear God, this Lenten season give me the grace to recognize how I carry the name of Jesus into the world.
