Generation after generation praises your works
and proclaims your might.
Psalm 145
My great aunt was a huge fan of collecting trinkets. On weekends we would go to garage sale after garage sale and she would look carefully at every item. Then she would choose the oddest assortment of items, at least odd to me, of spoons, holy cards, and she especially liked pins. In the momentos she chose, I remember American flag pins and some medals. It was as if she was collecting bits of people's history. As a kid, I thought it was amusing and curious. As an adult, I wonder if she thought about the people who once belonged to those items she so carefully chose.
On this Veteran's Day, as many of us will most likely take advantage of the many sales that are offered today. Let's also take some time to go over our own family history, especially if we have veterans, living or deceased, and say a prayer for them today, praising God for all that He has done for us ,and pray for those who have sacrificed in order that we may live and be free today.
