Turning Mess-Ups into Remixes

By Abby
Yesterday, Facebook reminded me of my post from three years ago...

Exodus 2:10

When the child grew, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses; for she said, "I drew him out of the water."

Yesterday, Facebook reminded me of my post from three years ago. I wrote, "After hitting the wrong music bed this morning but recovering by using the faders, Fernando said,, 'The sign of a true professional: Turning the mess-ups in to remixes.' Might be a life lesson."

I couldn't help but think about that after reading the beginning of Moses' story here in Exodus. First, his mother puts him in a basket and sends him down the river. Pharoah's daughter finds him and basically assigns Moses' own mother to nurse him. How crazy is that? Then she adopts him and adds to the irony because Pharoah had ordered the killing of all the sons of the Hebrews, and one now becomes the son of his own daughter! Fast forward in this same reading, so only a few verses later Moses murders an Egyptian.

It would be a shame to only know the peaks of Moses' story- that he would speak to God himself, carry the Ten Commandments to the Israelites, part the Red Sea and oh, yeah, appear to Peter, James and John at the Transfiguration of Jesus. God wants us to know the struggle, the sin and the failure so we will continue to run to Him even in our own mess-ups.

God proves over and over again that if we come back to Him and desire his will for our lives, he can write straight with crooked lines. He can remix our mess-ups and make a pretty cool song.
