To God, You're a Spring Chicken!

By Abby
I was getting dressed to go out with my ladies group last night and I looked in the mirror and thought...

Isaiah 40:30-31

Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, they that hope in the LORD will renew their strength, they will soar on eagles' wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.

Do you ever feel like you don't measure up? Like you're not young enough, fit enough, organized enough, crafty enough? We don't have to look far to find advice on how we SHOULD be acting in order to be the "ideal" version of ourselves. I was getting dressed to go out with my ladies group last night and I looked in the mirror and thought, "This is a mom look, but whatever. I'm a mom!" But in the back of my mind I'm thinking that I'm definitely not a spring chicken anymore. It's not a complaint, just an observation.

We have a tendency to idolize youth and all that goes along with it, but here, Isaiah is telling us that real energy and strength comes from the Lord. Can you picture it? And old, frail man, running and excelling next to a young, fit kid who should have energy for days? It's almost like we have the map to the fountain of youth, the magic pill that we all want to buy: It's hope. I'm not saying it will get you across the finish line in a marathon tomorrow, but it will take you to victory in the race that counts.
