Romans 12:14
Bless those who persecute [you], bless and do not curse them.
When I read the footnotes in today's letter from St. Paul to the Romans, I immediately thought of what happened this weekend in Texas. The footnote says this: Since God has justified the believers, it is not necessary for them to take justice into their own hands by taking vengeance. God will ultimately deal justly with all, including those who inflict injury on the believers.

I think about that man. How is God dealing with him?
And then I think about myself and I have to ask: Have I inflicted injury on the believers? Have I hurt the body of Christ in some way? I hope I've done a lot to build it up, but I know I've fallen short. I've gossiped on church campus. I've been unfairly critical of leadership. I've misrepresented myself as a Christian.
It won't make headlines or wall-to-wall news coverage, but it still does serious damage to our church. Maybe even more because it's under the radar. Feeling convicted today. If you struggle with the same things I do, I hope you feel convicted too. Let's all pray for the grace to do better today.
