Reading the book of Daniel makes me wonder if some of the action scenes in the superhero movies that have become so popular in our modern times are inspired by this writing from so long ago. The words in this scripture are sung by Shadrach, Meshach and Abednago as they were in the fiery furnace, very much alive and singing! King Nebuchadnezzar was infuriated. These three were so solid in their faith, praising God even when faced with what I would think they would think was the utter destruction of their bodies at any moment.
What I see is how these three men lived and were not afraid to die. I don't know how they ended their earthly lives, I only know that in this scripture they are singing and praising God at what could easily have been their judgment day. Our lives are not about how we are going to die, or what we are afraid of. Our lives can be about today, and how we live now. These moments we are living right now will define our moments at death and when we face our judgment. Let's live it well!
