The Communal Connection

By Elle
As we head into the weekend, let's keep in our prayers all those who are dealing with the impact of the weather events in the Carolina's

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved
he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son."
Then he said to the disciple,
"Behold, your mother."

John 19:26-27

As we head into the weekend, let's keep in our prayers all those who are dealing with the impact of the weather events in the Carolina's and that section of the country.  There are alot of displaced families right now, and the family, however its makeup is for you, is critical to our sense of trust, fortitude, courage and hope.  As a people we thrive on a sense of connection to a group.  Even as Christians when we walk in solitude we know our God walks with us.  If you are in a crowded place or by yourself somewhere, we don't have to feel alone if we pray for each other and keep the presence of God close in our hearts.

Jesus "gave" His mother to John and John to her in that reciprocal relationship so that we would see that Jesus also wants us to see the importance of not only a spiritual connection in prayer with Him, but also a communal connection with the saints who lived before us, and our community brothers and sisters, and of course our family.
