If you're looking for an example of courageously living the gospel, you don't have to look any further than our first martyr, St. Stephen. Not only did he speak strong words of truth to people holding rocks in their hands, but when they threw those rocks, he didn't curse them all. He asked God to forgive them.
Stephen's last words could've been, "You'll all be sorry for this!" Instead he directed his heart and thoughts to God.
When in your life have you shown more courage in restraint?
St. Stephen, pray for us to realize when our own needs should come second to those of others.
