I hope to aspire to that place where I can look up to the skies and say: "Oh boy, God, glad you know what's going on, so I can rest and not stress out!" But for now I am still in the: "I will plan everything out and then God, I'll let you know what's happening." As we have seen with the weather events that are still affecting so many of us, as we pray and ask God to restore, and as we attempt to rebuild our damaged communites, let us be grateful for the simple things in life while remembering there are many around who are still suffering from lack of the basics. God's ways are certainly not our own, and I hope we can have the humility to see that even in times of great stress that we need to step out in faith and remember this verse written so long ago.
I noticed right after the hurricane passed some uprooted plants, specifically, an aloe plant, in the grass right next to the road. I passed it once, then another day, and finally I picked it up and replanted it with my other plants. I'll be curious to see if it takes root, and when I see it I say a prayer for all those people who probably felt tossed around, and who are trying to reroot their lives and regrow, even if it is in another place.
I worry that those of us who are back to our normal routines will not notice others around us in need. Let's continue to reach out to see where we can help in our comunities and remember how blessed we are to have so many agencies in place and now that are assisting and will continue to assist those in most need.
