Thank God for Mars (and Earth)!

By Elle
If you like to look at the sky at night, you will be able to see the planet Mars very easily..

No one patches an old cloak with a piece of unshrunken cloth,
for its fullness pulls away from the cloak and the tear gets worse.
People do not put new wine into old wineskins.
Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined.
Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."

Matthew 9:16-17

If you like to look at the sky at night, you will be able to see the planet Mars very easily for the next week.  It is a reddish color and has been studied very closely as a possible new place for us to go set up a colony and try to live there.  What I find interesting is that if this planet Earth were even a few degrees different or if we were a tad bit closer or further from the sun, or if the molecules of hydrogen and oxygen were differently composed, we would not be able to live here!  God made our planet perfectly for us.

It doesn't mean that we don't go investigate other planets, even other solar systems, but I hope we take a moment today and simply thank God for this beautiful place that we naturally fit in with so well.  These verses remind me of when we try to make something "fit" or "work out" by forcing it to fit into our preconceived way of thinking instead of surrendering our ways to God, and letting the Holy Spirit guide us into new ways of thinking or solving a problem, or even praying for someone.

I hope we can find time today or even tonight and thank God for our lives and our world.
