"As she was being led to execution, God stirred up the holy spirit of a young boy named Daniel, and he cried aloud: "I am innocent of this woman's blood." Daniel 13:45-46
When was the last time you had the courage to stand up for your convictions? How about fighting against a whole town for what you believe in? That is what Daniel does in today's first reading. The entire town was ready to put to death a woman who had been falsely accused. By following the prompting of the Spirit, Daniel put his own life on the line.
In some parts of the world having the courage to live the Gospel means risking your life. It may not be that extreme in America, but standing up for God's truth could cost you that promotion or disrupt relationships with family members. When we feel the stirring of the Holy Spirit we should be compelled to action. God might not be calling you to save a woman who is falsely accused. But I bet He is prompting you to love your neighbor a little better.
How am I being called to share the Gospel truth with my town today?
Lord, give me the strength to stand up for what I believe in.
