Last Saturday on the Kid's Kingdom show, Fr Chuck and I mentioned how important it is to take a moment or two throughout the day and refocus on the presence of God around us. It can be as simple as walking to a window and noticing a tree's swaying branches or the clouds drifting by, or a bird hopping around searching for insects. Do we have to power through each task to finish quickly and get to the next one? Or can we stop at a park and sit on a bnech for ten minutes, take a moment in the car to pray before we enter a store, or pick up our children?
We get caught up in our cell phones or a game and we can easily lose our sense of what is really important. When we read our media pages, what do we miss that happens around us? How do we feel afterwards? I admit there are some pretty amusing videos online, with antics and craziness, but how do we balance the time spent being amused, with the time we can spend praying for someone in need, or thanking God for a special person in our lives. And how do we feel then? I'd say "pretty good"!
