Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another,
singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God.
Peter's Letter to the Colossians 3:17-18
I filmed the most perfectly hilarious 19 second SLO MO video of my kids and their pup which included the pup being held but squirming, and arching back to check each person in the video and trying to lick them. When I sent it out to some friends, I discovered it did not send in slow motion so the video became an 8 second funny but relatively normal looking scene. For this reflection, I wonder if my prayer life can be compared to the 8 second video clip. The prayer that includes good intentions and everything that I'd love to have happen in 2018, sort of like the "bucket list prayer". I'd like to make sure I slow down that prayer, pray slower, and evaluate my real intentions, examining them so I can be certain they are from God and not my own designs and whims. A good way to begin that is to sing psalms and songs, and really thank God for giving us all this unique opportunity to worship and praise Him.
May the Word of God be with you and go with you all the days of this year.
