Daniel 3:52
Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our ancestors, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever; And blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages.
As I was thinking about gratitude over the Thanksgiving break I found myself being thankful for the hard times in my life. It's in those times that I can most clearly see the hand of God at work in me. It's also in those times that it is the most difficult to praise him. Our Psalm at mass today doesn't come from the book of Psalms but instead from the book of Daniel. It's the song of praise that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego sang to God while in the furnace. They had no idea if God would save them but that didn't matter because they were ready to perish for their faith. What if we were ready to always praise God while going through the toughest times in our lives? I think that like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego we will see God standing there with us through it all.
