Persistence

By Davis
I guess I lack the patience of a good father...

But he [Abraham] persisted: "Please, do not let my Lord be angry if I speak up this last time. What if ten are found there?" For the sake of the ten, he replied, I will not destroy it. Genesis 18:32

I have always been amazed by parents who can take their kids to the grocery store and not be cranky. My experience with children and grocery shopping is usually full of "Can I have this?" "Can we buy that?" The persistent barrage of a child asking for things leaves me exhausted! I guess I lack the patience of a good father. I'm glad God isn't like that. As a matter of fact God is just the opposite and wants us to be persistent in our prayers to him. We may think we are bugging God when we ask over and over for the same thing or the same outcome to a situation. But God has infinite patience. However, we also have a responsibility to keep our eyes and ears open to the answer God has for us. Then we can also be persistent in our prayers of thanksgiving.
