Because of my brothers and friends I will say, "Peace be within you!"

Instead of saying "Good  Morning!" I think I'll start saying "Peace to you!"  Peace begins with me.  The sign of peace is said at Mass and we take that time to acknowledge within our families and those around us peace and goodwill and we make the gesture of shaking hands and offering peace. I have seen in my own family, where there was strife, a genuine smile and nod of the head to offer peace. There has been so much tension this year between shootings and the election with social media striking out at the frenzy and stirring the fire. It is time we try to put a chill on the angry heat and pray for peace.

I have to disregard posts I see in news feeds that are inflammatory and exaggerated. I can take time out to read a scripture verse or listen to a favorite song in order to relax and unwind. If we knew ahead of time when a car accident would occur, we would steer clear. In the same way, if we knew ahead of time where a conflict in our community would occur, we could set a plan into place to prevent uproar and rioting.  So, where we lack in the ability to foretell the future, let's plan for whatever will come our way, stressing the need for peace, justice and goodwill for all.
