I have always wondered what happened to this guy. I think "what if he went away sad because he knew what he had to do?" What if he did sell all that he had and followed Jesus? There was never a follow up on this guy so it will just have to remain a mystery. When I look back at my life I can honestly say there have been plenty of times I walked away from Jesus sad about something I had to give up. But I always came back! I am continually being convicted and challenged in my faith. I am often unhappy happy about the changes that I need to make in my behavior or lifestyle in order to be a better follower of Christ. But that's what it is to be human. Sometimes we simply need to wrestle with our humanity for a little while. Here's the thing about God's grace, he is always standing there waiting for us to come back after we walk away. If you have been away wrestling for a while, remember that Jesus is waiting.
