With the advent of social media platforms, friends are everywhere!
Sirach 6: 14-15
A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter;
he who finds one finds a treasure.
A faithful friend is beyond price,
no sum can balance his worth.
With the advent of social media platforms, friends are everywhere! Lots and lots of friends can see what we post and from there see what our likes and dislikes are, where we go, and what we like to eat. This chapter in Sirach, chapter 6 is one of my favorites because it reminds me that choosing friends is not as simple as liking a post.
While it is good to have friends with different interests and whose views may not alwasy be the same as ours, it is also very important to have friends who are faithful to what we also believe. Friends who will be of comfort to us, and who will encouarage us in our faith walk. Better is one good and trustworthy friend than thousands of acquaintances.
