O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways, In a moment I would humble their foes, and turn back my hand against their oppressors. Psalms 81:14-15

Today's readings take us through a journey of God's patience and forgiveness. In Exodus we hear the people of Israel complaining about the food God gave them while in the desert. Even Moses didn't want to deal with their complaining anymore and began complaining to God. But the Psalm and Gospel shows us the mercy and goodness of God. Even though we complain and disregard God's ways He is still faithful. God simply waits for us to see our own wrongheadedness so that He can come to our rescue. I encourage you to read Psalm 81 in its entirety. It is a beautifully concise picture of God's love and desire for us.  

Psalm 5:12

Then all who trust in you will be glad and forever shout for joy. You will protect them and those will rejoice in you who love your name.

Have you ever experienced one of those times where you didn't think God was on your side anymore? I know I have and man was it a tough time. But this Psalm reminds us that if we trust in God he will protect us. It doesn't promise us things will never get hard. But it reminds us to always praise His name even through the difficult times. What ever you are going through today, whether it be good times or bad, remember to praise God through it.
