Feast of Saint Stephen, first martyr. 

Matthew 10:20

For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

I find it interesting that the day after Christmas we celebrate the first martyrdom. It's kind fo appropriate though if you think about it. The Jews thought Jesus would come as a king to rule in splendor on earth, but he came to us in a manger instead. We spend all of Advent waiting to celebrate and then next day we are talking about dying for our faith. It seems to me like God is always dealing us an unexpected hand. But we can rest in the assurance that he will never fail us, even in the unexpected. Here God is promising us that if we open ourselves to him he will speak through us. The outcome may not always be what we expect, but it will always be for the betterment of God's kingdom.
