How can it be "good?" It's probably the most FAQ on Good Friday. And as Christians, we can hopefully give a decent answer when asked that question. But these simple words in scripture really summarize HOW. Because it's not about now. It's about forever.
We understand this concept because we all endure hardships that lead to a greater good - resisting unhealthy food in order to lower cholesterol, chemo treatments to kill the cancer, homework to grow in knowledge and pass the class, but Jesus took that to the n'th degree. What He did was is so good that affected all of eternity and He was able to do it because he knew where true glory lives, not on this side, but on the other.
How can you shift your focus to be more eternity-minded?
Lord, thank you for your sacrifice on the cross. You are our King.
