NEVER A WASTED MOMENT

By Abby
Confession. Sometimes I'll sit down with my Bible or a devotional and...

My word] shall not return to me empty, but shall do what pleases me, achieving the end for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

Confession. Sometimes I'll sit down with my Bible or a devotional and do my thing and then close the book and say, "Hmph." I see people posting these inspiring interpretations and I think, "What did God say to ME in that passage?" or worse, "I don't even understand what He said. That didn't make much sense."

I have to remind myself of this verse from Isaiah. Any time spent in God's word is time well spent. It is planting a seed, speaking a truth into your heart or subconscious, or opening your eyes just a little more to his desire for your life. Sometimes our vision is blurred or our hearing is impaired, but God's word can break through all that. So don't give up. Keep reading. Keep listening.

Question for Reflection

What is holding you back from spending more time reading scripture?

Lord, thank you for your living word. I commit to spending more time in it. Help me believe that reflecting on what you have to say will always lead to good fruit.
