Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord

Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here! Let us make three tents: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah"
When was the last time you had a moment in your life that you just didn't want to end? Maybe it was that perfect relaxing afternoon by the pool. Maybe it was your wedding day or the birth of your child. I'm pretty sure we have all had those moments when we thought it would perfect if we could just freeze time and never leave. I had a few of those moments on my recent surprise birthday trip to New York.
I imagine that was the feeling Peter, James and John had that night on the mountain. Can you imagine experiencing Jesus in his full glory? No wonder they wanted to make tents and stay up there forever! But like every perfect moment in our lives they had to move on to the next moment. Jesus knew that there was still work to do and he had to remind his followers that the hard part was still to come. Jesus doesn't want us to miss out on those perfect moments. He wants us to remember them and hold them close. It's great to have a mountaintop experience. But we still have to come back down to the valley and get the work done.
