More Inviting

I must admit that in the past people have told me that I am hard to approach...
"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me." Matthew 10:40
Today's gospel passage starts with Jesus warning his desciples that there will be strife and arguments among people, even within their own family, because of his teachings. On first reading of verse 40 you might think Jesus is condemning those who do not receive his disciples. But I think he is giving them, and us, direction to be more approachable. It's up to us to present a demeanor that is warm and inviting, filled with love, not condemnation. I must admit that in the past people have told me that I am hard to approach. How can we be more inviting to someone who has never seen Jesus? It's up to you and me to give those around us the best chance of receiving Jesus when we encounter them.
