Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you,
so that you might imitate us.

Is there a problem with being a model? Of course not! We are reminded here of the importance of Christians to be models for Christ. I saw a high school production of the show "Legally Blonde", where the main character Elle, discovered that her true calling was to be the best version of herself, not being who she thought others would like. In the journey, she discovered the joy of helping others, in this setting, legally by becoming a lawyer. As Christians we are called by god to be the best version of who He made us to be, and in our journey we will discover the details of our true calling.
Let us continue to pray for peace, and strive towards what unifies us as family, community, and country. And as we "model for Christ" perhaps others will see Christ in us and want to learn more. That doesn't mean we become "perfect" in the world's eyes. It means we "perfect" our journey following Jesus as best we can and starting again when we make mistakes.
