Magnify the Lord

Psalm 34:4

Magnify the LORD with me; and let us exalt his name together.

I used to want to be a marine biologist. Then I came to realize that biology was science. That marked the end of that dream. Science was not my best subject; I even struggled with using a microscope. They never seemed to work for me. I could never get the focus to work, or the little plate in the right position and then it always felt like my eyelashes got in the way. It was so complicated!

So I've HEARD that when you use a microscope, the things that are hard to see are made more visible. They are magnified. Something that looks ordinary becomes more vivid because you can see so many details.

I love that David chose the word "magnify" in this verse. He didn't just say worship or love God. Yes, we must do those things too, but if we do worship and love Him, we will naturally reveal his character in a more intimate way - and that's grace - God's character being seen in & through us. Don't forget, you are like a magnify glass or a microscope, making the Lord more vivid and visible - just don't be like that tricky microscope from my middle-school years. The less complicated the better!
