Looking Up Not Down

By Elle
What would our lives be like if we did not know Jesus?

God, who is rich in mercy,
because of the great love he had for us,
even when we were dead in our transgressions,
brought us to life with Christ —

Paul's Letter to the Ephesians 2:4-5

What would our lives be like if we did not know Jesus? I mean if no one knew him. I think more uncivil, perhaps we would be more separated from others in our communities, so less unity.  I look around and hear about how "unglued" the fabric is becoming in and around our communities, and I instead see people of all ages reaching out in many ways to help those in need and strengthen and build their own families.  Jesus showed us how to live, and in many ways how to die- to one's selfishness and desires that divide us, and Jesus always points us to look up not down, as we keep our eyes fixed on what's really important.  So let's thank God today for the gift of His son, Jesus and as we enter into this week of lent, let's be mindful there are many opportunites for us to regroup and move forward away from our own trangressions, and get back to the business of living and living for love, charity and with hope in our futures as families, as neighbors, and communities.
