Little Things Add Up

By Davis
Let to many little tasks around the house go unattended and suddenly your whole Saturday is spent cleaning...

Matthew 7:1-2

Stop judging,  that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you.

Little things in life can be tricky. Let too many little things slip at work and suddenly you are in the boss's office explaining why your work isn't getting done. Let to many little tasks around the house go unattended and suddenly your whole Saturday is spent cleaning. Even in our relationships we can let little things nag us and not say anything about it. Then suddenly we explode or lash out at our spouse for no apparent reason.

Judgement is like that for me. I don't think of myself as a judgey person. But I allow little judgements about my neighbor to creep in here and there. Before too long I have allowed so many little judgements to run through my mind that I have a distorted opinion of that person. Next thing I know my relationship with that person has become sour and I didn't even realize why. Jesus has some pretty harsh words about judgement. But the good news is the adding up of little things works with love too. If we choose to measure out love instead of judgement, then love is what piles up. And a big pile of love is never a bad thing!
