I feel like we live in a society of instant gratification. Want to hear your favorite song? Download or stream it instantly. Need something hard to find? Buy it on Amazon and have it the next day. Feel like you need to lose a little weight? Buy this DVD and watch the pounds melt away. We want what we want and we want it now! I think the rich man asking Jesus this question was in the same boat. He wanted an instant fix. But what Jesus gave him made him go away sad instead. There is no instant fix for eternal life. Jesus calls each of us to sacrifice the same way he sacrificed for us. What instant fix are you looking for today? How is Jesus calling you to sacrifice for the good of His kingdom instead?
