Then astonishment seized them all and they glorified God, and, struck with awe, they said, "We have seen incredible things today."
I'm sure most of us have heard a story of someone who has been healed and there is no explanation for it. Maybe that story is a healing of your own or someone close to you. Doctors found a tumor in my stepfather during a routine Colonoscopy. It was too big to remove during the procedure so they took a biopsy, marked the spot and scheduled him for surgery a few days later. When the doctor went back in to remove the tumor it was gone. They had no idea what happened. But we did.
In our Gospel today we read the story of the paralytic man who was lowered through a roof by his friends to be healed by Jesus. The crowd was skeptical at first but we see by the end of this passage that they went away astonished at God's power. It's easy to recognize God's hand in a healing like that of the paralytic, or my step-dad. Our challenge is to recognize the little ways that God brings healing into our lives every day. Maybe you have a few less little aches and pains today than yesterday. Maybe a relationship that was broken has now been mended. Maybe you got a little unexpected windfall that helped get the bills paid this month. Take a look at your life and see where God's healing hand is at work and say, "We have seen incredible things today."
