Psalms 71:8
My mouth shall be filled with your praise, shall sing your glory every day.
Have you ever met anyone who didn't like Christmas? When I was a young man I knew someone who didn't like Christmas at all, we will call her Barbara. You see Barbara's brother died on Christmas day in a car accident. From that day on Barbara hated that everyone was celebrating on the anniversary of her brothers tragedy. Sometimes grief has a way of tainting things. I wish that in my younger years I had been wise enough to point Barbara to this verse in the Psalms.
I now know how hard it is to celebrate when that place at the table is empty during the holidays. But if we truly believe that God sent His son to us so that we can live with him in eternity we can't help but celebrate. If you, like me, are struggling with grief this Christmas I would encourage you read verses 1-7 of this Psalm. Hopefully you will remember why we can truly sing God's praises every day.
