They can no longer die,
for they are like angels;
and they are the children of God
because they are the ones who will rise.

What is our end goal? I hope it is to get to Heaven, to live eternally with all of our relatives and friends who have gone before us, and will in the future be a part of the eternal glory of God's Heavenly City. Eternal sounds like a faraway word to me, because I do not know what Heaven will be like, and sometimes it is all I can do to go from one moment to the next, and one day at a time. When I imagine Heaven it helps me to remember that if God, the author of Love and all that is good and true, made so many beautiful things for us here in this temporary home, our earth, then how much more glorious will Heaven be?
I think of the photos from NASA in space of the earth and its atmosphere, of the beauty of the sun that it is set so perfectly for us in the sky, with either a small shift in any direction most likely making life as we know it impossible. I look at the beauty of a flower changing each day, and the rain falling as part of the water cycle that again if shifted ever so slightly would make life unbearable. If God gave us these gifts here and now for us all, how much more will there be in Heaven?
