Wrath and anger are hurtful things and the sinner holds them tight
Sirach 27:30
This chapter begins with stating that for the sake of making a profit many fall into devious ways. "For the sale of profit many sin, and the struggle for wealth blinds the eyes." Sir 27:1. FL Governor Scott has advised for everyone rebuilding in the state after the hurricane to check the business and contractor's licenses before paying someone because in the past, there have been scams, and people have been taken advantage of financially. We need rebuild and help to fortify those around us and their properties, it is perfectly ok to try and make some money doing so. That's fine, and a good idea to bring in extra cash. When so many of us were out of electricity and the comforts we are accustomed to, it was easy to become irritable and angry. Hopefully, we can throw away those feelings, not let them linger, and not hold tight and start remembering old grudges, as we pick up the pieces in our communities. Let us pray for peace.
If we are looking for ways to help in our communities, I wonder how easy it would be to ask our neighbor to join us at church? Or share a meal? Is there a family with young children or elderly parents around? Can we do their shopping? You know what would be awesome, is to earn the money for yard work or shopping, and then give it back to them.
