Every creature God makes is no accident, not a random act of kindness, but a specifically created "here for a reason" creature. When I was young, I remember a zealous religion teacher telling us, if the people won't hear God's voice, maybe the animals will! I immediately thought of talking to the animals, and how funny that would be to have a group of animals listening to a sermon.
Spring, this season of rebirth and renewal gives us an opportunity to be reborn in a way ourselves as we unwind the past and let go of the knotted worries about a future we don't really have control over anyway. It is difficult during times of change to let go and let God take over, but it ultimately is much more satisfying than weaving our knots of anxiety and worrying over things we cannot change. Let's "preach" today by our actions and attitude, the Gospel of love and unity, of peace and humility, and maybe use some words if we have to.
