The fundamentals in life are what keep us grounded and focused when we go about our daily activities. We most likely follow the same routine each morning and each evening: we walk our dogs, or pack a lunch, cook dinner, or read the news or even watch our favorite programs. Even in sports, we see how practicing the basics are critical to the pro's so that their athletic feats and skills become automatic.
All of this and however we live, hopefully also includes some time for prayers. Why is it important to pray? It reminds us to do good, to follow not necessarily the ways of the world which may think this or that about us, but to follow our hearts. Hear in your hearts as you are gifted to do, and do something good each day. When doing somehting good becomes fundamental just like walking the dog, or picking up the newspaper, or going to the gym, then we begin to recognize more clearly the needs of our neighbors and our desire to act and do something more will prompt us to action.
