The new school year feels a lot like January 1st. You get a clean slate, a fresh start. I'm always optimistic, eager and organized. I want my sons to have a school experience that puts them on the path to spiritual and emotional growth and academic success, but when I start to think of all of these things I get completely overwhelmed. There is so much pressure. And then I read a verse like our Thought For the Day and it calms me down.
More than any academic success or popularity, I want my sons, and your kids too, to walk into those halls today and have this as their first priority. If they struggle to master their multiplication tables or learn how to perfectly diagram a sentence but they love and follow God, then we are doing our job as parents. So relax and know that this absolutely IS going to be a great year.
