God's Creation Around Us

By Elle
There is a children's song, "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands"...

There are also many other things that Jesus did,
but if these were to be described individually,
I do not think the whole world would contain the books
that would be written.

John 21:25

There is a children's song, "He's Got the Whole World In His Hands", and many of us know a version of it and may be humming it now.  We know so many different things about our world than John and the people who lived then did.  I am careful to admit that they were more intimately involved with the natural world and its seasonal cycles and growing rhythms than I will ever know. Yet we have close up images of places that I had no idea existed thanks to our satelites, telescopes, photograhy and yes, the internet.  I've seen pictures of massive sheets of ice moving at either pole, and category five hurricanes swirling the seas, thanks to images from the International Space Station.  NASA's Parker Solar Probe is expected to touch the sun next summer, and, closer to home, many of us have seen sonograms of our children growing and forming right inside of us.

Jesus performed so many individual loving acts and impressed these people of his time so that they could not possibly recount all of his efforts.  We believe, with the eyes of faith, that these stories are true, and that there are so many more, even when we do not fully understand the way of life back then.  So where does that leave us today? Let's appreciate the things of the earth that we see and understand today, let's find a way to promote recycling and growing plants that are native to our areas, so we can little by little continue to appreciate and admire God's creation around us.
