Have you been in a store or public park and a child says: "Mom?" and the moms all look around and even some will answer "Yes, I am here"? I have, and we ususally laugh. I think it is instinctive for parents to also look after little ones around them. I have two dogs who are eleven years apart in age and they always look after each other when they are together. They sit back to back touching. Even though the older one cannot get up as quickly as the younger one, she will bark out to communicate something like "Here I am!", and then she'll try to get up as she can, with that: "I'm coming along too!" attitude. The best is when they wait at the door and look out together.
We can think about how God knows every part of us, every cell. God is even more sensitive than the mother is to the child, and He is closer to us than my two dogs who are never far apart, and are always, always watching each other and waiting for us to take them out. Hopefully, we can rest in that reassurance that God is with us when we invite Him into our hearts and lives. When we pray today, I hope we can listen for His voice and choose to follow Him closely.
