Back-to-school is upon us. I love seeing all of the posts from teachers who are getting their pencils sharpened and bulletin boards set. I have several friends who have chosen the vocation of being a teacher, so I know there are a lot of meetings this week. Some are just about the schedule and nuts & bolts and others are team building or workshops. The principal at my sons' school even attended something called The Emmaus Leadership Series. In an email she said she "looks forward to growing as a leader and incorporating what she is learning into an improved educational experience for everyone."
So what would happen if all of our teachers and administrators learned and grew and then refused to set foot in the classroom on the first day of school? Our children would be cheated out of an education and there would be complete chaos!
Today, we celebrate the Transfiguration when Peter, James and John have this incredible experience with Jesus on the mountain top. Yes, it is beyond good that they were there, but "here" is not where they were meant to stay.
Take what God gives you and give it to others. Don't stay in the place where just you are being fed. We are meant to take our nourishment, knowledge and fruit and pass it on.
