None of the crimes he committed shall be remembered against him;
he shall live because of the virtue he has practiced. Ezekiel 18:21
Lent is a time to reset our spiritual lives, so that we are careful to remember that a strong spiritual life will protect us from temptation and prevent, hopefully, us from making too many wrong decisions. I will speak for myself, so as not to sound judgmental, but I immediately went into all this thought about fasting from a food or drink. Should I give up sugar? How about wine? After a day of fasting, it was very clear to me that it was neither sugar nor wine.
The more hungry I was, the more often I checked my phone. For what? I realized what a strange habit that is. I had skipped lunch and spent thirty minutes on my phone. Can we "slap the forehead" now?
Question for Reflection :
Am I fasting from or adding something that has been beneficial to the growth or better maintanance of my spiritual life?
Heavenly Father, May we be enlightened today with a greater understanding of what we can change in our lives that will truly bring us closer to you.
