As the Israelites were being led out of slavery they couldn't see beyond their immediate hunger to remember that God was giving them what they ultimately hungered for - freedom!

As you continue on your lenten journey is that sacrifice you've made starting to wear on you? Just remember that while your earthy hunger is growing or becoming more difficult to resist, an opportunity awaits to lean on what your body and soul really need - Jesus. Our deepest encounters with Christ often happen when we are uncomfortable.

Can you remember a time of discomfort where Jesus was more present than ever?

Lord, I pray that I encounter you as much in my need as I do in my abundance.
