Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered
Last week and this week our readings have given me a sharp reminder of the humanity of Christ. Sometimes it's easy for me to think of Christ as removed from humanity. I kind of always think in terms of "Lord and Savior". But today we are reminded again of the humanity of Jesus. He had to learn obedience through suffering? This verse puts a whole new light on the time Jesus spent in the garden of Gethsemane. He actually asked God to stop what was about to happen, but he knew what he needed to do. Next time I think God is giving me too much to handle I will look back at this verse and remember that even Jesus had things in this life to learn through suffering.
