The Lord is a God of justice, who knows no favorites.

Who remembers trying out for a team and not making it? A common excuse given for the one who didn't make it, is that the coach picks favorites. Most of us judge ourselves by those around us. We tend to categorize people from our experiences and from what we have been taught. Doesn't that make it easier for us to understand, on our terms, what we think about the person, or how we talk with them? Do we then, pick favorites, by hanging out with and talking to people who are like us?
Let's try today to see everyone we meet with a "blank slate" or without judgment. There is a way, I think with God's grace, to observe and talk to someone without presupposing what we think they should look like or say to us. And you know with God, we don't have to try out. We are already "on the team" through our baptism, so let's go out and invite others to join in.
